My new reflex

One week ago I received the reflex camera I bought in United States. My uncle, who’s a business man that’s always travelling around the world, spent all the money I gave him on it. But the long wait was worth it. Once I got it in my hands, I ran down the building and I started shooting everything I saw, even some old funny lady. After that I made a call to Camila, a friend of mine that loves the photos just like me. We walked for one hour between the Parque Forestal trees, taking pictures. After that, spent there all my afternoon, we took a bus and went to her house. But on the way to her building, we had problems: I don’t know if I looked afraid because I was carrying such expensive camera, but somehow –I don’t know why-, some young and strange kid came to us and started making rare questions: he wanted to steal my new reflex. Luckily as I am, suddenly a police car appeared and he ran down the street without it.

Daniel's biography

My name is Daniel Castell. For the last five years I've been studying journalism at the Diego Portales University, in Santiago, Chile, and for the last 16 years I've been living in this country so, obviously, I'm a regular and normal chilean guy. But even If I talk, dress or act like one, the true it's that I born in Barcelona, Spain. When I was 7 years old, in 1992, my parents decided to come here, the place where they were born. Since then, Chile has become the place were I live, my hometown.

The story about how I decided to study this career it's funny. When I was 4 my dream was to become an archaeologist, not because I loved antiques or story lessons, only 'cause for me Indiana Jones was the best thing around the world. When I grew up I realised that being an archaeologist was not so funny like movies make it look . After jumping from one profession to another, I realized that journalism was the best form me: five years after making that decision, I'm working on two magazines, one TV channel and one web site.
